The Chapters follow the mission of the Guild of Book Workers on a regional level.

  • Offer local workshops on various aspects of the book arts crafts.
  • Organizes exhibitions of member works and informs members of events of interest.
  • In addition, members can participate in both virtual and social gatherings, meetings, tours, talks & lectures.
  • News specific to each Chapter is available on the chapter website and sent via email newsletters.

In its geographical reach and distribution of members, the Chapter covers the entire GoldenState. Our activities include the sponsorship of workshops on various aspects of the crafts which are of interest to our membership, exhibitions, lectures, seminars and occasional informal and social gatherings. Our membership is varied in its interests and skills, ranging from amateur enthusiasts and hobbyists through skilled professionals to world-renowned design binders. We are friendly and mutually supportive, so that fledgling binders can count on help and advice while the skilled and experienced freely share their expertise.

Delaware Valley

Includes Pennsylvania, New Jersey and the Delaware tri-state area, with activities centered in Philadelphia. All members are welcome.

The Delaware Valley Chapter–one of ten chapters in the US–is located in the Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware tri-state area with activities centered in Philadelphia. Our diverse membership includes book artists, book conservators, fine binders, calligraphers, librarians, paper marblers, teachers, photographers, printmakers, and graphic designers. The Delaware Valley Chapter offers a newsletter, virtual and in-person workshops, lectures, exhibition opportunities, tours, and social events. Membership is open to all interested persons and includes professionals, amateurs, and students.

The Lone Star Chapter supports the mission of the Guild of Book Workers by offering workshops, exhibitions, lectures and other events in the Texas/Southwest region. The Lone Star Chapter serves members in Texas and the Southwest Region but welcomes Guild of Book Workers members from all regions. Includes Texas and Southwest Region. All members are welcome

Midwest

Includes Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania (mostly western Pennsylvania, since the eastern part of the state and greater Philadelphia are covered by the Delaware Valley Chapter), South Dakota, Wisconsin. All members are welcome.

The Midwest Chapter servers the greater Midwest region by hosting workshops, exhibitions and other events in the areas of bookbinding, artists books, printing, papermaking and all fields of the book arts.

The Chapter for members from Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. All members are welcome.

The New England Chapter follows the mission of the Guild of Book Workers on a regional level.  We sponsor presentations and workshops throughout the year on various aspects of bookbinding and related arts of the book. The chapter organizes occasional exhibitions of member works and informs members of events of interest in the New England region.

Northwest

The Northwest Chapter serves the northwest region (Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Alaska) by hosting workshops, exhibitions and other events in all fields of the book arts. The Chapter also helps members keep up to date with bookish events happening in our region with its monthly newsletter.

Potomac

The Chapter for members from D.C., Maryland and Virginia. All members are welcome.

The chapter is principally made up of members from Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia and welcomes West Virginia, all the Mid-Atlantic and bordering states, as well as visiting national members and the book arts curious! We organize workshops, gather at local exhibitions and the incredible museums in our area, point to maker and teaching studios and suppliers across the region, join and sponsor events in the areas of bookbinding, artists books, printing, papermaking and all fields of the book arts.

Rocky Mountain

The Rocky Mountain Chapter was organized to represent the Guild of Book Workers in the Mountain West. We host monthly virtual events, annual workshops, digital exhibitions, and offer a workshop scholarship twice a year.  The Chapter serves members from Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming and is led by a board who strives to foster creative exchange and development between our members.

Wasatch

The Guild of Book Workers (GBW) promotes interest in and awareness of the book and paper arts by maintaining high standards of workmanship, hosting educational opportunities, and sponsoring exhibits. The Wasatch Chapter focuses these Guild endeavors on Utah with activities centered along the Wasatch Front, primarily between Salt Lake City and Provo. Activities include educational and social events related to all aspects of book working (bookbinding, fine binding, book conservation, calligraphy, papermaking, letterpress printing, printmaking, etc.). All events are designed to increase book arts learning and to foster connections between book workers. Membership is open to all interested persons.

Chapter FAQs

If you are new to the Guild of Book Workers, you can become a member and add a chapter membership at the same time. You can join by clicking on Join link and choose between Regular, Student, Family or Institution memberships. To add a chapter membership, just check the box next to each chapter you would like to join.

You can renew your chapter membership by first signing into your account and go to your Account page. You will be able to renew your chapter membership from that page. If you can't remember your login. Your email address is your username and you can always reset your password here. Or feel free to contact our communications chair at [email protected] and they can help you login.

Sign into your account and go to the your Account page. From there, you can renew your chapter membership. Alternatively, use the Add a Chapter link to renew your chapter membership.
